Welcome to JAM Resumes! I’m Joyce A. Mabe and I’m happy you’re here!

I know how scary it is to find yourself searching for work when you’re 50+ years old. It was not very long ago when I was in your shoes myself.

Whatever the reason for your job search — whether you are switching careers, relocating, or entering back into the workforce due to an unexpected layoff or other reason — I know what a nerve-wracking, frustrating time it can be, especially if your job applications are not resulting in interviews.

You have a solid work history, impressive credentials, stellar skills, and wisdom that can only come with age. Yet lately, you’re often asking yourself,

“If I’m so wise, why can’t I even get an interview?!”

If it’s any consolation, I can tell you that it’s nothing personal; after all, you are wise! The problem is very likely your resume.

One of the biggest indicators that your resume needs an overhaul is the fact that you are not getting calls for interviews.

In today’s job market, the resumes that get noticed and put in the very slim to-be-interviewed pile look and sound very different from the resumes of even just a few years ago.

Today, a resume that has the best chance of getting noticed must be written in a clean, easy to read modern format and must showcase tangible, measurable results and achievements.

It’s no longer enough to listing your jobs and responsibilities. Today, your resume must display the unique value that you bring to potential employers–without unnecessarily disclosing your age.

Also, each resume must be tailored to each job title you’re applying for and contain the specific keywords that an employer’s ATS scan will recognize.

And…it must do all the above in 10 seconds or less (the average time most hiring managers spend scanning your resume to determine if you will get called for an interview).

If your resume is weak in even just one of these areas, you’re likely not going to make it to the interview round.

Frustrating and unfair, I know. After all, you have so much to offer any organization; if you could get a chance to sit down with them, they’d see it in a second!

But without an effective, modern, keyword-rich, ageless resume, it’s not likely you’re going to get that chance.

But don’t worry! There’s hope!

I’m here to help you stack the odds in your favor and give you the peace of mind and confidence that comes from knowing your resume is in line with today’s best practices and standards.
